Litter Work

Venture Search and Rescue Crew 900 offers young adults between 14 and 21 years of age an opportunity to participate in training, support, and search and rescue operations for persons lost or marooned in the mountains, wilderness, desert, or local neighborhood. The unit is also ready to make our skills and capabilities available to city, county or state emergency services in the event of a major disaster such as an earthquake or air crash.

New members will attend a field certification course and complete a pack check. Once these have been accomplished, the member will be ready to participate in actual search and rescue operations with VSAR Crew 900 and Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit, Inc. (IMSARU). Year-round training includes safety, survival navigation, search techniques and management, basic life support, radio communications, over-snow travel, snow shelters, avalanche safety and search, rescue techniques and management, rescue climbing, special clothing and equipment, and remote-area logistics.
